96 Museales Majolika-Andachtsbild von Andrea della Robbia, 1435 – 1525 MADONNA MIT KIND 145 x 66 cm. Um 1500. Hochrelief aus Terrakotta, teils polychrom lasiert. Experte: Prof. Giancarlo Gentilini. Literatur: Vgl. A. Marquand, Andrea della Robbia and his atelier, Princeton 1922. Vgl. Giancarlo Gentilini, I Della Robbia, La scultura invetriata nel Rinascimento, Florenz 1992. Vgl. Tecnologia per i beni culturali, Mailand eine Thermoluminiszenzanalyse durchgeführt. Die Resultate (3.3 +_0.3 Gy) unterstützen die Auffassung einer Autorenschaft Andrea della Robbias. (1081221) (10) Museum quality maiolica devotional image by Andrea della Robbia, 1435 – 1525 MADONNA AND CHILD 145 x 66 cm. Ca. 1500. High relief with partial polychrome glazing. Expert: Professor Giancarlo Gentilini. This rediscovered altarpiece was not known to art historians until recently and, as Professor Gentilini remarks, it is a surprising and important addition to the recognised œuvre of Andrea della Robbia. The painting's complex execution, its size, successful artistic composition and the technically outstanding modelling are impressive. The art work may have possibly been embedded into a stone frame as a wall altar. Andrea della Robbia created a work of this type in ca. 1500 for the Cappella della Reliquia del Latte di Maria at the Collegiata of Montevarchi (today held at the Museo d'Arte Sacra). The Mother of God is depicted at the centre with two angels. Her expression is soft and other-worldly. She holds the Christ Child in her arm. The strong resemblance with other works by the artist as well as the execution of the figures' anatomy and expressions underpin the attribution to Andrea della Robbia. Comparable Literature: A. Marquand, Andrea della Robbia and his atelier, Princeton 1922. Note: Thermoluminescence analysis was carried out by Arcadia Tecnologie Per I Beni Culturali, Milan in January 2006. The results (3.3 +_0.3 Gy) support the opinion that Andrea della Robbia is the author of the offered work. € 250.000 - € 450.000 INFO | BIETEN tions.com 72 For around 6,000 additional detailed images: www.hampel-auctions.com
